Will facebook really end on July 15, 2012?

Facebook is a very popular site that connects people in all aspects of life. It so popular that it has more than 900 million users. Mike Zuckerberg is the owner of Facebook. He is the one who discovered this site, him and his friends from college discovered this site and it all started in their college then it spread to other colleges and now it is all over the world.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FACEBOOK)

Facebook is responsible for connecting people all over the world. Friends meet through this site and it also plays a role in putting together friends that have not seen each other for a very long time, all you just do is search for the name of that person if he/she have a facebook account.

On Sunday, February 19th,2012. The weekly worlds news posted that Facebook will end on July 15, 2012.
It is said that the reason for this is because Mike cannot control the site anymore, that the site is putting too much stress for him.
“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.” Besides facebook is putting too much stress he also want people to go out there and find a real way of socialising. Mike said that he does not care about the money but it is just way to hard for him to manage this site.

Everyone is concerned about this matter as most people believe that facebook gives them a great opportunity of connecting them with the world. Now my question is that do you think Mike is really going to close down the site? It is one of the popular networking sites, and there are also new features that have been recently been created for facebook.

Expressing yourself through social networks

This is how facebook asks you when you want to write
about yourself

When it comes to social networks people express themselves freely, either by words, pictures or videos. They get the opportunity of expressing themselves and talk about what ever they feeling at that moment. They can use any social networks of their choice, facebook, twitter, Youtube, Myspace etc. These all have their different ways of playing the role of self expression. For example, Youtube is a video sharing website. This website really helps people in expressing themselves through performances and then they share these videos for the whole world to see. In facebook and twitter people have the opportunity to share pictures, videos and also update satuses about themselves. In their profiles people add their hobbies, what they like etc. You sometime get people who update statuses about everything they do. Their online friends knoe everything about them.

People who are shy in communicating with others feel free  to communicate using social networks, this were they get the opportunity to tell the whole world, how they feel.
Another thing is that some of these social networks will tell you on how many words to write. In twitter you have to write up to 140 characterst, this means people have to keep on updating their statuses and telling people what they are doing. People keep on updating statuses each and every minute on what they are doing and will be doing, with who and why.

Twitter give you an opportunity to let people
know of what is happening in your life.
Social networks are the great website were people engage and expresses themselves any many ways they like. Though there are terms and conditions involved in them. When using whether twitter or facebook, people will be able to get connected with the world, no matter how shy you are. Online chats are fun !

Using social networks for your studies

Social networks are not only just sites that people use to catch up and only share social news. Social networks can also be very helpful in people's lives and communities as well. Most students use social networks to engage in their studies. Though some students might use these social networks only to form relationships and frienship with other people. Some students use these to engage about their schoolwork " Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter can help community college students become more engaged in their academics" (http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/). Students uses these sites by communicating with other students or lecturers about their schoolwork.

When it comes to facebook, students can be able to open a group were they can discuss their studies. For Example, second year PR students of the University of Johannesburg have opened a facebook page, called the "PR go-getters", they discuss all their studies in there, everything related to their schoolwork that they are not sure about. This can really help increase the pass rate for students.
"95% of students ages 18 to 24 use social networking tools, including instant messages and texting, 64% multiple times a day. Yet just 18% do so for schoolwork, and 27% never do". Yet 18% do so for schoolwork, and 27% never do. Just 5% never use social networks.(http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/). These percentage really shows that most students use social networks for their personal things but there can still be a possibility for majority of them to use them for their studies. This is up to the students on how much effort do they want to put in in their work and for the schools as well.

TV programmes on social networks

Thousands of people today spend most of their time on their phones busy with their social networks. People discuss almost everything on social networks,  including the latest news on what is happening on television.
Television shows that are discussed on social networks like Facebook and Twitter have the tendency to have higher ratings than other shows.(www.readwriteweb.com).

If that is the case then imagine watching your favourite TV show using one of your social networks. Instead of sitting in front on the TV on a particular time waiting for your favourite show to start. This is not only a good idea only for an individual but also for the shows as it is guaranteed that they will gain more ratings. In this case you will not have to sit in front of the TV all the time. "The role of social media in television-viewing have been growing over the last few years. 17% use social network to discover new TV shows. 39% of 18 -24 year olds to guide in their TV choices, while the third if this group said they would be most likely to talk online about a TV show if they saw friends already talking about it online. Tom Malcom Diffusions's head of consumer said. "These real time online discussions of TV on social media mark the end of the water cooler effect and a fundemental change in the way Brits watch, share and interact with TV.

It is quite clear that most people prefer online discussions about TV shows especially youngsters. They get bored of sitting in front of the TV all the time as the percentage of watching TV compared to that of spending time on the phone is higher. Then if that is what people are dealing with do not you think that it is much better to have your favourite shows on your social networks?
